This is so addicting --- almost as addicting as the computer. I am constantly on the prowl for things that I can paint. I even offered to use my red paint to paint a big U on the neighbor's head.... he's a big BYU fan and I am a Ute Girl!!!
I found this shelf (actually 2 of them) at a yard sale for $2.00 each.
After a little paint.... now I just need to hang them up.
And dang it I forgot to take a before photo of this.... I got this little stand from my grandma's house. It was brown - it had a few chips and scuff marks on it. Now it's red! I love it!
Oh and check out the clasp thingy... it's some Gothic creature... or maybe a lion???
Still on my list to paint...... all the picture frames in the living room that are a light oak color --- they will be going black, the nightstands in my bedroom that don't match each other or the bed will also be going black (my bed is black) and the door knobs from the entire house will be going from brass to bronze with a hammered finish. Now hopefully the weather will hold out long enough....... honey can you build me a paint booth???

Healthy-ish Chocolate Chip Muffins!!
Who doesn't love a good chocolate chip muffin?? I was inspired to make some almost healthy chocolate chip muffins by my Mother-in-Law. She always tweeks recipes a little bit to make them healthier. So I gave it a try myself.
They turned out pretty good!! I will make them again, but I think I will use 1/2 bag of chocolate chips instead of the whole thing.
I am posting this the way I made it - in the parenthesis is the regular recipe.
1 Cup Flour
1 Cup Rolled Oats that have been run through the food processor (1 Cup Flour)
1/3 Cup of Brown Sugar
1/3 Cup of White Sugar
2 t. Baking Powder
1/2 t salt
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup of homemade pearsauce, you could use applesauce (1/2 melted butter)
4 T. Water (No water)
2 T. Flax Seed Meal (2 eggs)
1 t. Vanilla
1 Package of chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 400 and grease 12 muffin cups, I actually used the mini muffin cups.
In a large bowl, stir together all the dry ingredients. Then add all of the wet ingredients and stir just until blended. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Spoon batter into the muffin cups and back just until they start to brown. (15-20 minutes if using the full size cups.
Enjoy!!!

Hi Honey, What did you do at work today?
Have you ever asked your spouse that question? This is a question that I usually do not ask.
My husband has a secret life.....
Well not really.....
More like multiple personalities.....
Well not really.....
You see Matt is actually 2 different people. We have "Home Matt" and "Work Matt".
Home Matt is funny, laid back, a jokester. He plays hard. Home Matt is the hockey goalie, bagpipe player, great dad and dotting husband.
Work Matt is life saver. He literally saves lives. It amazing me when I think of all the things that he does. He can put a tube down someone's throat to help them breathe, he can do CPR and start IV's in the back of a moving ambulance. He can deliver babies, and he has. He runs into burning buildings as other people are running out. He can comfort the mother who has lost a child.
Work Matt is the Matt that I have rarely seen. I am in utter awe of Work Matt.
Hi Honey, What did you do at work today? This is a question that Matt has to answer carefully. I have a sensitive stomach and a sensitive heart. There are many things that I don't want to know. There are many questions that I ask him that I only want him to answer in Yes/No responses.
Hi Honey, What did you do at work today? As of right now 9:00 pm on Monday night, Matt has been sitting a SWAT Standoff for almost 12 hours -- he has been sitting there waiting for a man to do one of 3 things,
1) Give up so everyone can go home safely,
2) Shoot himself
3) Get shot by police - hopefully no one else will get hurt.
I am proud of my honey. I am proud of the things he does at home and at work.
Come home safely!!!!

Great Yard Sale Finds
I have been looking for something to hand over my front door. This iron piece was $5.00 at a yard sale. I didn't have to do anything to it. Now I just have to get the door and trim painted.
At another yard sale I bought 2 baskets for .50 each. I spray painted them black. I got 2 wooden bears - just because they were cute and these vintage looking spools, some with thread on them for another .50 - total!! I think the bears are going in Micayla's room and the baskets will eventually find their way to my room.

Adventures in Spray Paint
I really need to update some things in my house.... but I don't have a lot of money to spend on decor right now. My friends Aubrey & Nicole got me thinking about spray paint. I think Aubrey started it all.... anyway here's the first project that I want to share with you....
Before; this table was brown wood grain pretty 80's. It had a smokey colored glass top. This is place in our house where all of our shoes end up. We come in and kick them under there... it has always been a big mess.
After; I painted it black. I covered the glass with a f aux leather (sounds better than vinyl) I cut the vinyl and used spray adhesive to attach it on the underside. The skirting was no sew! I bought the fabric on clearance at Hobby Lobby - it was only $2 a yard. All I did was cut it and hot glue it on the the inside of the table. Now the shoes are still under there.... but no more mess!!
This project cost me: $5.00 for paint, $3.00 for "Leather", $4.00 for fabric and about 3 hours of time.
Stay tuned! There is more to come!

Pears Anyone?
Last week my friend Aubrey called and told me that her neighbor some free pears outside of their house. I went over and got a bunch --- man I wish I would have taken more!!!
I didn't really know what to do with them.... I know eating them plain is good - but I had so many.
Yesterday I made this Fresh Pear Cobbler. It was SO good!!!
Today I sliced a bunch and put them in my crockpot with the juice from one lemon, a couple tablespoons of sugar, and a little cinnamon & cloves. I cooked them on high for about 2 hours. The smell was AMAZING when they were soft I put them in the food processor. I ended up with some YUMMY Pearsauce!!! I froze it for now but I plan on using this in my mother in laws yummy applesauce bar recipe, I'll share that later.
I have about 15 pears left so we will just have to see what I come up with next!!!

Goodbye...Farewell....Thanks......
I have been spending way too much time blogging. Not only posting on my blog but also reading others and others off of their blogs and others off of theirs..... you get the idea.
I have been having some issues with myself - nothing too bad but issues no the less..... After lots of thought and personal prayer it seems that the best way for me to have more time to take better care of myself and my family is to give up this thing that is taking so much of my time.
I want to thank everyone that has been reading this for your love and support. It has been great making new friends in the blogsphere --- and getting to know a few of my friends in real life better.
I will continue posting recipes at Good Stuff Maynard and hopefully by the end of the week all of my recipes that I have posted on Kaysville Momma will be moved over.
As far as coupon and frugal tips go I HIGHLY recommend visiting me at Pinching Your Pennies!!! This is by far THE BEST HANDS DOWN way that anyone can learn how to save money!!! My user name there is sherriwj.
My VCFS Families Blog will stay open and I will be posting on there from time to time. My posts will be relevent to VCFS and Micayla's health (which is very good right now).
This is my final post on Kaysville Momma..... I plan on deleting this blog at the end of the week.
I will be saving my template --- you never know when I may pop up in the future...

Post of the Day:
Purchase gifts throughout the year. Don’t wait until right before the holidays or someone’s birthday. Finding gifts throughout the year saves money. Sales after Christmas are the perfect time to find all sorts of merchandise that would make good gifts for the following Christmas. Store your gifts in a cabinet for that purpose so that you are never without something to choose from for gift giving.

Rice Cakes & Updates
I was reading online for some ideas of things to do with leftover rice. I always seem to cook too much. And you know if you order Chinese food you always get an abundance of white rice.
I found a great idea! I think this "recipe" goes back to the Depression Era when everything was being rationed.
You simply mix eggs and cold cooked rice. 1 egg for every 3/4 cup of rice. Mix it and pour it on a griddle that has been sprayed with cooking spray - just like you would pancakes. Cook on both sides and top with maple syrup, berries or jam.
I tried this one night for dinner --- yes we like breakfast foods for dinner... It was really good!! The kids CLEANED THEIR PLATES!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I thought I would update you on how Micayla is doing with school. We have 2 days under our belts. The first day we were walking home she was mad because we weren't going to McDonalds with Lexie. Apparently since we went there last week after their orientation meeting we have to go everyday.....NOT!!! Then she started crying for her daddy. She talked to Matt and phone and calmed down - then she laid on the floor exhausted.
Yesterday she did much better. She wanted Lexi to come play but it wasn't a good day for me to have a playdate. I asked her what she did at school and at first the only thing she told me was that they played on the playground. Then I got a little more out of her.
I was talking to a neighbor and she thinks that it takes about 2 weeks for kids to get settled into school. I guess we will see!!!

The many uses of vinegar....
Vinegar for everything!
FOOD
When you can’t get the last bit of mayonnaise or salad dressing out of the jar, try dribbling a little of your favorite vinegar into it, put the cap on tightly and shake well. You’ll be amazed at how much you’ve been wasting.
Try soaking fish in vinegar and water before cooking it. It will be sweeter, more tender and hold its shape better. When boiling or poaching fish, a tablespoon of vinegar added to the water will keep it from crumbling so easily.
Cake icing can be prevented from becoming sugary if a little vinegar is added to the ingredients before cooking. The same is true when making homemade candy.
When boiling an egg and it’s cracked, a little vinegar in the water will keep the white from running out.
A teaspoon of white distilled or cider vinegar added to the water in which you boil potatoes will keep them nice and white. You can keep peeled potatoes from turning dark by covering them with water and adding 2 teaspoons of vinegar.
Freshen up slightly wilted vegetables by soaking them in cold water and vinegar.
Add 2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar to 1 pint water and use to wash fresh fruits and vegetables, then rinse thoroughly. Research has shown that vinegar helps kill bacteria on fruits and vegetables.
Before frying doughnuts, add ½ teaspoon of vinegar to hot oil to prevent doughnuts soaking up extra grease. Use caution when adding the vinegar to the hot oil.
Perk up a can of soup, gravy or sauce with a teaspoon of your favorite specialty vinegar. It adds flavor and taster fresher.
As a tenderizer for tough meat or game, make a marinade in the proportion of half a cup of your favorite vinegar to a cup of heated liquid, such as bouillon; or for steak, you may prefer to a mix of vinegar and oil, rubbed in well and allowed to stand for two hours.
Remove fruit or berry stains from your hands by cleaning them with vinegar.
For fluffier and great tasting rice, add a teaspoon of white distilled vinegar to the boiling water before adding rice. Rice will be easier to spoon and less sticky.
CLEANING
It is easy to take out the heavy stale smell often found in lunch boxes. Dampen a piece of fresh bread with white distilled vinegar and leave it in the lunch box overnight.
Get rid of cooking smells:
Let simmer a small pot of vinegar and water solution.
Soak a paper towel with 1-2 Tablespoons of white distilled vinegar. Wipe mixing bowl and beaters or whisk with the vinegar-soaked paper towel, then dry with a cloth or paper towel prior to whipping egg whites.
Bathtub film can be removed by wiping with white distilled vinegar and then with soda. Rinse clean with water.
Rub down shower doors with a sponge soaked in white distilled vinegar to remove soap residue.
Corrosion may be removed from showerheads or faucets by soaking them in diluted white distilled vinegar overnight. This may be easily accomplished by saturating a terry cloth towel in vinegar and wrapping it around the showerhead or faucet.
Stubborn stains can be removed from the toilet by spraying them with white distilled vinegar and brushing vigorously. The bowl may be deodorized by adding 3 cups of white distilled vinegar. Allow it to remain for a half hour, then flush.
PETS
A teaspoon of white distilled vinegar for each quart bowl of drinking water helps keep your pet free of fleas and ticks. The ratio of one teaspoon to one quart is for a forty-pound animal.
Test the color fastness of the carpet with white distilled vinegar in an inconspicuous place. Then sprinkle distilled vinegar over the fresh pet accident. Wait a few minutes and sponge from the center outward. Blot up with a dry cloth. This procedure may need to be repeated for stubborn stains.

A little embarrassing!! But a great homemade cure...
This is a bit embarrassing to write about but I know that I am not the only person in the world that has had this problem. I was talking to my friend Aubrey about it and she dared me to blog about it so here it goes.....
I have had a rash. A very ichy and uncomfortable rash under my boobies.... (hehehe she said boobies..) anyway --- I think it was caused by heat or possibly some medication that I took. I did not want to go to the doctor for it. Instead I did what all of us with this wonderful contraption called the internet would do. I diagnosed myself and set out for a cure. I tried many things... cornstarch, foot cream, cortisone.... you name it! Then I found this stuff called David's Breast Cream yes you read that correctly --- DAVID'S...... I almost bought it until I read that it was like $30 -- although if it worked it would be well worth it!! I read the ingredients.... Lavender, Zinc Oxide - to relieve itch & discomfort, Pure Lanolin (purest United States Pharmacopoeia grade) - to protect the skin, Anti-fungal Boric Acid - to inhibit tinea, yeast and other fungi.....
I decided that this was probably something I could do alone, without David's help. I have some pure lavender oil.... and Zinc Oxide is the main ingredient in diaper rash creams. I mixed up my own concoction of lavender oil, Butt Paste and add a little cornstarch.... violo --- it worked!!!
So now that you are all laughing and wondering why on earth I would actually post this..... I want you to comment with your best home remedy.... or things that you have used lavender oil for.....
