Are you feeling the pinch? It seems that over the past few weeks there just hasn't been that many great sales - I haven't been very excited about shopping.
I came across a great tip that could really help keep people under their grocery budget. Leave your checkbook/debit/credit cards at home. Go to the bank and withdraw your grocery budget in cash. Enter the store armed with your cash, a calculator, your list, your coupons and your weekly menu. Buy only what you need.

That forces you stick to your budget for sure! One thing that works for me, is to splurge in the grocery store on good deli meat, a ready made dinner, or really unhealthy frozen fried appetizers. That way, when I hit a "I don't want to cook dinner...let's please go out" stage, I can grab one of those treats instead. It's easier for me to just say no to McDonald's when there is a fridge full of yummy sandwich fixings at home.
Congrats on winning SmoochieFrog's Pop'rs Giveaway! We know you've tried 2 flavors--please let Uncle Lynn and me know how you like the rest--could there be more "singing carrots" in your future? :)
I love the idea, but how much extra time does this take you?
That a really good idea, but man saving money is never easy is it. So how's the free stuff you've been winning from the veggie mom?
That sounds like a good idea! I always end up bying more than what is on my list! Thanks for the tip!
We have been getting our grocery budget, along with several other budget items, out in cash for about 1 1/2 years now, and it has really helped us stay within the budget. It's still not perfect, but it's better!
I have been doing this and it really does make a difference.
Ooooh, that is a great idea. Talk about being strict with yourself...hmmmm...I might have to try this one. :) Thanks!
(By the way, hello! I'm new to the SITS blogs...and am working my way around.)
I always do this, otherwise I just get too much!
